Our Mission
Through a writing-enriched curriculum that emphasizes the transfer and iterative building of writing abilities across a student’s liberal arts education, the Writing at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ (WAM) program seeks to foster rhetorically informed and reflective writing experiences within all academic units at 91¶ÌÊÓƵ. We primarily do this in three ways:
- We support all 91¶ÌÊÓƵ students as critical readers, ethical researchers, and rhetorically savvy digital multimodal writers of academic, public, and professional writing through sustained general and course-embedded resources provided by the Writing Center and Writing Fellows program.
- We extend our support to students through our partnerships with undergraduate and graduate faculty who teach courses in which critical reading, writing, and information/digital literacy are taught and, often, reinforced through the incorporation of digital portfolios.
- We extend our support to students and faculty by sustaining and iteratively improving writing curricula, especially in the undergraduate first-year writing program which includes Writing 101, Writing 105, and LinC/MILE 101 and in undergraduate Writing-Intensive/Writing TAGS courses in each discipline.
